The Chad Is Back!!
February 24, 2006 10:06 pmThe Chad is back on the web. Welcome to the “World of Chad”. This new site is definitely my area of personal thoughts, feelings, and expressions, something I did not feel I was able to do at my last site, and certain people know who and why. Anyway, lets get it started off with what a bit about me.
First off, if you haven’t figured it out yet, my name is Chad. I also have a nickname of “The Chad”, but that will most likely get left behind now that I have moved on from my original site (which will be archived here for reference and historical J sake), and don’t really hear it all that much at work anymore. I grew up in a small Podunk town in the middle of Michigan, but after I got my Tech Degree I moved out to Hillsboro, OR to work for Intel. A couple of years ago I was playing football with some friends after we got about six inches of snow (which for Oregon is astonishing, as the whole city shuts down), and I got tackled and landed on my left knee. I am currently recovering from my second surgery. The first, last year, was to remove a torn meniscus. The pain didn’t go away, so they went back in five weeks ago and performed an ACL reconstruction, which is an easy way of saying that they cut out the original ACL and replaced it with two hamstring ligaments (taken from the back of my leg), which are wrapped around a screw in the top of my knee, and tied off to another one in the bottom. I have a dog, named Kaeo (Kuh-Ay-O), a German Shephard-Pit Bull mix, who is an absolute nusceince, but I love him anyway. I will be getting another dog in a few weeks from my parents, a long haired Chihuahua, whom I will be naming “Fezgig” after one of my favorite all-time classic movies, “The Dark Crystal”.
I went on a little recuperating trip back to Michigan a few weeks ago, and hung with family and friends, and even went on a small expedition up in northern MI. Yeah, probably not the smartest thing to do when recovering from knee surgery, but when I got up the next day, the bad knee was about the only thing that didn’t hurt. I got back last week, and after seeing the money “pour in” from two large bonuses from work and nice, healthy Tax Return, along with the short term disability from work while I’m recovering, I decided to go on a nice little shopping spree, Guy style.
I went out and picked up a nice 52” HDTV rear projection, along with an entertainment rack for all my A/V toys, and some new speakers for my surround sound. You put all that together with the shiny laptop I bought just before my trip back to MI, I’ve dropped quite a chunk of change at our local Circuit City (not that it matters, but I shop there now instead of Best Buy, which I used to work at during college and shopped at religously, due to their way of trying to fuck people over with their “Bundle Package” fiasco with Xbox 360, whom one of my friends got it even worse).
The bad part of all my new toys is the fact that I’m spending a lot of time online looking for more toys/accessories to go along with them, such as blue tooth accessories, high definition accessories and other crap to play around with.
Now that I have high definition and full surround sound, I’m discovering some annoyances with the Comcast DVR. First off the Motorola box that Comcast gave me, the 6412 III with dual tuner, will only give Dolby digital surround sound on one tuner at a time. Also, it will not record Dolby Digital either. But, I guess just having a big-screen with HD and Surround sound is way more than I had a 8 days ago, so I believe I can live with it.
Ever since I got back from MI, I’m finding that, for some reason, I don’t care for any of the normal beers I like. It’s quite confusing. I am pretty much a Micro-Brew kind of guy, really liking Widmer Hefewiezen and also the occasional Deschutes Black Butte Porter, but lately, they just haven’t been tasting very good. Luckily, I have found alternatives. Full Sail Session Lager. Great taste, no bite, and cheap. Also, I finally went and got the all the supplies for making White Russians, as I found I absolutely love them. Mix those along with some fine cigars, and its ALLLLLLL GOOD.
