So Sore. So Sore…..
December 30, 2006 2:10 pmOkay, so I’ve been playing the Wii for the past two days straight. I never realized I was that out of shape. It’s kind of funny, in the Wii Sports game, they have a fitness test, (whereas 20 being the best), and I scored an age of 53. But, in my defence, I had been up for 36 hours and just left work when I did this the first time. I’ll have to try it again today sometime.
So anyway, I’ve been kicking ass in Bowling and Golf. Boxing and Tennis are a fucking workout, let me tell ya. That shit kicked my ass, and is probably one of the reasons I am so sore right now. And i think my plans to join a gym this spring are no longer needed. I can work up a good sweat just playing video games now. Surprisingly, I don’t really care for the Baseball game. Not sure why.
I also got Excite Truck for it. That game is friggin sweet. You hold the wiimote horizontally, gripping with both hands, and use it as your virtual steering wheel. BAD.ASS.
Now, of course, being the nerd I am, I couldn’t stop there. I also downloaded the drivers to use the wiimote on my computer as my mouse. Works pretty good, but I need the wireless IR bar before I can use it for practical purposes.
I’ve also made a couple Mii’s of me, as well as (attempted to) copy some of the work I’ve seen of the net. I made my own versions of Jason (Friday the 13th), The Crow, and a very crappy looking version of Batman. And I’ve only just begun….
Now all I really need is come extra Wiimotes, but since they’re all on fricking recall due to the crappy wriststraps, we’ve had to share just my one wiimote. I also put in the request for my replacement wriststraps. It’s kind of funny, as Nintendo will offer to send you 1-4 wriststraps. Who would order just 1? Why not order as many as possible? They’re free! Anyway, I’ve been getting paranoid as hell lately with just the crappy wriststrap, wiping my sweaty hand every single chance I can get, becouse I’m pretty sure my TV’s Service Plan doesn’t cover any flying Wiimotes. I think I’m gonna thread a couple loops of my spider fishing line through it just in case until the new ones get here.
Alright, I’ll stop talking now. I’m gonna play with my Wii.
(yes, I wrote it like that intentionally, perverts)

Why Blu-Ray will fail
December 27, 2006 4:38 pmI was thinking the other day about the possibility of someday getting a next-gen dvd player, and about which one I would buy and why. And I ultimately came to the decision that, if I ever have the cash and the want, I will be getting an HD-DVD player. Then, yesterday, I found an article on Digg where some guy was talking about why he will never buy a Blu-Ray. It was pretty interesting, and not only confirmed my direction towards HD-DVD, but compelled me to write about the reasons I believe Blu-Ray will ultimately fail.
1. It is a format developed by Sony. Absolutely every single solitary format that Sony has introduced as ultimately failed miserably. Betamax - Dead. Mini-Disc - Dead. UMD - Nearly Dead, kept on life support soley by games for the PSP. Why do these keep failing? Becouse, while they were all great ideas, Sony just had to keep a super-tight grip on them and make them as proprietary as possible, keeping too many restrictions which turn users away.
2. DRM. DRM. DRM. And since it’s from Sony, you know it’ll be good. Just look at that nice little Audio CD rootkit idea they had last year.
3. It all depends on your tv. I have an HDTV with just a DVI port. With Sonys ingenious ideas, if you dont have an HDTV with an HDMI port, your high-definition movies will automatically get downscaled to 540p. Now, while this will most likely also be true for HD-DVD players, it is happening right now with the PS3, and Sony isn’t doing a damn thing about it.
This is all just my opinions and thoughts. If you find something you feel/know is incorrect, well, good for you. Go have a Coke and a smile.

What’d I do?
December 26, 2006 2:29 amNot that it’s actually interesting, but here’s what I did this weekend.
Sunday: drove around, bought some cooking crap, went home, cooked, cleaned, went out for more cooking crap, went to Panera Bread (just opened this week….finally…five years in this damn hippie state without one!), finished cooking, cleaned up everything, and then called family, and then gave the doggies their christmas presents (new toys and some rawhide chewies!). Then I finally passed out around 2am
Monday: Got up, got a shower, drank coffee, headed over to T & D’s place for the day. Ate dinner, watched movies, played games, and drank White Russians all day long. After that, came home and watched movies with the dogs till about 5am, as I had to go to work Tuesday night.
P.S. The board game, Risk, sucks ass. I kept rolling a fucking 1 every damn time.

My Christmas Post - Music
December 23, 2006 7:32 pmAlright, so here are some of my favorite christmas songs. They are not the usual christmas songs (I freaking hate standard christmas music!). So, some of them are serious songs, others are fun. Enjoy!
John Berry - Oh Holy Night
Joe Diffie - Leroy, The Redneck Reindeer
Kathy Matea - Mary, Did You Know?
Jeff Foxworthy - Redneck 12 Days of Christmas
Restless Heart - Little Drummer Boy
Red Peters - Holy Shit! It’s Christmas
Alan Jackson/Allison Krause - The Angels Cried
Ray Stevens - Santa Clause is Watchin’ You!
Reba McEntire - The Christmas Guest
Jeff Foxworthy - The Night After Christmas
Collin Raye - What if Jesus Came Back Like That?
Update: I just had to throw this in here. In case you haven’t heard it yet, this is Twisted Sister with their own version of “Oh Come All Ye Faithful”. It rocks.
