G/F - How are you so wonderful?

The Chad - ya know, I ponder that myself sometimes.

Loopholes!

February 24, 2008 1:21 am

So, my New Years resolution was to not buy any toys this years. While I do kinda need a new TV (as I only have a 1080I), I can live without it for awhile. I did, however, pick up a new blu-ray player the other day. Oh, and it also apparently plays video games as well (you might know it as a PS3). Now, I found a loophole in my resolution that kept me from breaking it and still acquiring said toy. I traded in my Wii and all the games and accessories. And there we have it. It was a trade-in, not a purchase. Yay for loopholes!

I also picked up a new snowboard and bindings the other day. I found a nice Morrow Fury 155 on clearance, and an awesome deal on Flow Bindings. These were also not a resolution breaker, as they are not toys, but rather Sporting Equipment. Yep, loopholes rock.

Going down to Mt Bachelor this weekend with Jennie and a couple of her friends. Should be an awesome weekend, especially with my new board (and spending time with Jennie, too!).

We went and watched Vantage Point last night. If you wanna watch it, wait for dvd. It gives you the same 15 minutes of story 4 times in a row (all from different “vantage points”, believe it or not…). The last half hour was nice, but that was about it.

I also watched The Assasination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford. Other than the fact that this is one long, long and slooooowwww movie, it was absolutely fantastic. Just a completely brilliant and wonderfully done movie. Even in the first 15 minutes you can tell just how great it is. But, beware, becouse it is, as I said, long and slow.

Commercials, Commercials, Commercials

Has anybody else noticed that the one hour episode of Lost is actually only about 20 minutes of Lost, and 40 minutes of advertising?

Neverending Pages

February 19, 2008 9:06 am

I have been unbelievably tired this week. After snowboarding on Saturday (and almost hurting myself again, but I’ll get into that later), and then going out again later that night, I got up unusually early on a Sunday (for which I had to work that night) and spent a great and beautiful day with Jennie. Have I mentioned how awesome she is? Yeah, she is totally awesome. Anyway, back on topic. Work that night was long. Loooooong and boring. I even started nodding off around 3am. So, I took the last couple hours off and went home.

I got up yesterday, had some coffee, and then Jennie came over for dinner and to drop off my valentines day gift (she got me a new Red Wings hat! how cool is that?!?!). Later I went to work, and even early on in the shift, I got really tired. Really, really tired. So, on my next break I went to take a nap. And thats when the torturing began.

The second I laid down my pager started going off. And. Would. Not. Stop. And once I finally got up, the pages stopped. The really sucky part was that  I had to respond to most of them (usually I mostly get alot of FYI pages that dont concern me). How’s that for awesome?

All I can say is Thank You Red Bull.

Oh yeah, back to how I almost killed myself again. I was practicing riding my board goofy foot, whereas I normally ride regular. I went on my toe edge and did what every beginner does when he goes on his toe edge. The heel edge caught and flipped me flat on my back. Hard. Very hard. So hard the back of my head slammed into the ice (oh yeah, it was ice that day, not snow). And if I hadn’t been wearing my helmet, I’d most likely be in the hospital right now. And to think that I almost took it off earlier in the day becouse it was so warm out. Yep, never going without a helmet again.
