So I almost died yesterday…
April 25, 2008 10:28 amWell, sort of. A friend and I went snowboarding yesterday. We were kicking ass down that mountain, flying down the runs, hitting up the black diamonds, leaving others behind to eat our snow dust.
And then, I decided to take another black diamond. I had taken it before, and quickly realized that I didn’t like it. It went up hill for a bit, and I only made it about halfway. Mark didn’t even make it a quarter, and said he was gonna go down from where he was and hit another trail. I decided to go through the woods and hit up the trail near the bottom.
And that is where things went wrong. I came over a small hill, and saw a few small yet steep hills, hills that I would either not make it over, or if I did I would go flying in the air and come crashing down.
And then….I looked down to what was right in front of me: A deep-ass gulley. With a large water flow under the snow going on by, flowing into a nice man-sized caved that just reeked of deathtrap.
So, I sat down. Quickly. Very, very quickly. And grabbed a tree root. And then wedged my board into the snow for a firm footing, all the while staring down into deep ravine, imagining myself crashing down onto the rocks below and being swept into the inescapable underground creek.
After yelling out for some help, another snowboarder nearly flew into the gulley, barely avoiding his fate by purposefully wiping out just in time. I tried to yell and grab his attention, but to no avail. So, I did what any other survivalist would do.
I pulled out my Helio and called Mark. This was my phone call:
“Hey dude, I need a favor. Are you down by the lift? Good. Go tell a lift operator to get Ski Patrol to come and get me. I’m sitting on a cliff basically hanging over a ravine. Oh, and I’m holding on to a tree root and I can’t get out.”
So, after a few more calls with Mark and with ski patrol, another skier came by and gave me a better (perfectly accurate) idea of where I was, and Ski Patrol got there pretty quickly after that. So, they tossed me a rope and pulled me out. Yep, that was fun. Here are some crappy pics of it.

I’m Still Alive, Are You?
April 23, 2008 3:07 pmYeah, I know I haven’t written much here lately. I’ve been a bit busy.
Anyway, I thought I’d give everyone a nice little update on how things are going.
Jennie and I are very happy together and very much in love. She is wonderful, “the cheese to my macaroni” if you will.
Kaeo still has the possible tumor. His surgery was supposed to be tomorrow, but I had to push it out a couple weeks becouse I’m still not totally convinced that it is a tumor. It has since shrunk back down to normal size, the open wound has since scabbed up and is now healed, so all there is is a hairless spot with some thickness to the skin. It is all possible that it may just go away. I’m hoping for that.
I can still snowboard! Because global warming is happening right now, it is still cold as fuck here in Oregon, and MT Hood is still getting bombs of snow.
Audioslave is now one of my top favorite bands. I never really listened to them before, and after some mentions by my brother and Sirius playing them every now and then, I finally went and got all their albums. I haven’t stopped listening to them since. And Chris Cornell can fucking sing. Like no other. He is just superb. (They were talking on Serious Octane that they were gonna try and get him as the new lead for Velvet Revolver. How cool would that be?)
I go on day shift for a couple weeks starting Sunday. I’m totally looking forward to it. Why? Simple. I get to sleep at night for a change. Too bad it’s only for a couple weeks and not permanent, but hey, I like my 13% night shift pay.
Does anybody still read this?
I just ordered my new free quad-core chip from work. Now all I need is the money to upgrade my current compy to use it. I’m thinkin’ a triple boot compy with Vista (just becouse), Ubuntu, and OS X. Oh yeah, it’ll be badass.
I bought the Juno Soundtrack for the GF. She loved it. Me, while it is interesting music that I don’t mind, I’m not gonna listen to it much more than when I watch Juno.
I’ve been playing around with High Dynamic Range photos lately. Now, while I don’t yet have a camera worth while to do a great looking one just yet, I think the shot’s I’ve done don’t look too bad. A few of them are up on my flickr page (which you can get to by clicking any of the images on the sidebar!)
I’ve played an absolute shitload of Burnout Paradise lately. I am 97% done with the game. All I have is 12 more Stunt runs to finish and then I’ll get the Elite License and be completely done with the game. I only have one problem. I hate stunt runs and I suck ass at them. I managed to get through 3 of them yesterday, but I’m not so sure about the rest.
I also just got Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Spec II (long ass name, eh?) for the ps3. I was kind of excited about this game as all I’ve read about it made it seem sweet, and I loved GT1, 2, and 3. GT4 kind of sucked, but whatever. So, first off, the graphics are second to none. They are just phenomenal. However, the game itself, as I quickly realized, was still Gran Turismo. And anybody who has really played Gran Turismo knows what I mean when I say that. They removed all the “upgrade” that you could do (you know, so you no longer can make a Skyline with 1900hp) , which I think I like. However, the fact that they made it as real as possible also makes it less fun. Driving the slower cars just sucks, and the way the tracks work just boggles the mind sometimes. And from just coming off playing Burnout, it just isn’t anywhere near as much fun. And where’s the damage? I read somewhere that they were supposed to have damage, if cosmetic only, but I haven’t seen it. I tried running into a wall to try it and all I got was a time penalty. LAME!

Forgetting Sarah Marshall
April 19, 2008 11:13 amThat was freakin’ hilarious.
Seriously, it was almost as unbelievably funny as Superbad.
The only thing that irritated me was that half of the funny stuff in the trailer wasn’t even in the movie. Other than that, I loved that movie. It was awesome.
Completely. Freaking. Awesome.
Oh, and Kristen Bell and Mila Kunis looked FINE.

There will be blood
April 12, 2008 10:17 amHoly Crap was that an awesome movie!
I only have 2 questions….1. What was up with the weird dvd package? and 2. Why no blu-ray?
Other than that, an awesome awesome movie.

okay, okay - ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
April 7, 2008 12:30 amThere have been a few disturbing things going on in the world lately that need to be brought to attention and STOPPED immediately. I’m not talking about the obvious things, I’m talking about shit that is bugging and annoying the hell out of me.
First up, Detroit Tigers. WTF are you guys doing? Seriously, 6 games in and still nothing? And getting swept by the Royals? THE KC FUCKING ROYALS? A team that hasn’t done shit since George Brett retired? You guys better get your shit together before May, becouse I ain’t driving all the way up to Grungetown (Seattle) just to see you get your asses kicked.
Next up, and possibly the most serious offenders on this list, is RickRolling. This is some of the dumbest, annoying, most retarted shit ever. EVER. The song sucks, the dancing is gay, and the whole “prank” idea behind is just fucking stupid.
Moving on - Facebook Apps. I’m actually not too concerned about this one, becouse I don’t use facebook anymore, but still, for the apps that I did get suckered into installing, I hate them all. And now, any retard can make one. For whatever. And seriously, STOP FUCKING EMAILING ME! The emails from these crappy apps never fucking stop, and half of them don’t give options to turn it off.
Evolution vs Creationism. Um….yeah. Sorry, but these people need to chill. I just want to punch the next asshole who labels me a creationist just becouse I believe in god. I see the science. I understand evolution. I know it’s there. I still believe. And I’m not the only one. Deal with it.
Cosplay - well, no, actually this one can be kind of cool, when done right. But just half-ass dressing up as some anime character is pretty gay. If you’re gonna do it, do it right and go all out.
